A Portage Transport truck and trailer, with Mel Martin at the helm, delivered 48 pallets (50,000 pounds) of goods to a warehouse in Edmonton for Fort McMurray evacuees. The goods were generously donated by individuals and businesses from Winnipeg, Portage and the surrounding areas.

The idea for this truck came from a visit Bernie made to a Peterbilt show a few years ago. Myrna Chartrand drives this truck and loves the color pink. She approached Bernie about decaling it in pink one day, even offering to pay for some of the cost. When Bernie saw a similar truck at the show, he and Myrna discussed the details and this is the result. The truck and driver are invited to several Breast Cancer fundraisers each year. It’s a win/win situation for everyone. It gives the company exposure, creates awareness for Breast Cancer and makes Myrna a happy company driver.
